Modelling and Data Analyics

Purpose & Objectives

Special Interest Group on Modelling & Data Analytics or shortened as SIGMDA aims to formalize the group of academicians who actively assess their research with outstanding achievements. Furthermore, the SIG will become a platform where the collaborations are widely established, nationally and internationally and not limited to only the UMT’s academicians. SIG members can also become consultants to local industry partners in solving various modelling processes and events problems and analyzing the data numerically and visually to achieve accurate and comprehensive results and predictions. 

The government introduced a new framework named the 10-10 Working Framework of Malaysian Technology, Innovation and Economics (MySTIE10-10), which has been structured to achieve the ‘Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama 2030’ recently. The framework integrates 10 Science & Technology and 10 Socio-Economic developers to complement each other. Therefore, in line with the framework, the establishment of SIGMDA is the first step in responding to and supporting the Malaysian government’s aspirations where it is a research group based on the science development for data modelling and analytics which is currently active in researching MySTIE10-10’s field, as follows: 

Science & Technology Developer: 

   1.   Advanced Intelligent Systems,
   2.   Augmented Analytics & Data Discovery,
   3.   Blockchain,
   4.   Neuro Technology,
   5.   Bioscience Technology. 

Socio-Economic Developer: 

   1.   Business & Financial Services,
   2.   Smart Technology & Systems,
   3.   Education,
   4.   Environment & Biodiversity. 

With the formal establishment of SIG, the peering process between the key developers of Science & Technology and Socio-Economic along with the inculcation of other key developers will be held to achieve the Malaysian government’s agenda. Besides responding and supporting the MySTIE10-10’s framework, SIGMDA members cooperated in pursuing the four targets of the United Nations as stated below:

   1. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure,
   2. Climate Action,
   3. Life Below Water,
   4. Partnerships for the Goals.

       Theme: Accomplish the Assumption Toward Technology
 

Objectives:

       1. To identify the path and excel in data modelling and analytics research in Malaysia in line with the MySTIE10-10. 
       2. To offer advisory services to clients from various fields and industries in solving data modelling and analytics problems according to four SIG domains. 
       3. To provide a platform for researchers to come together, identify the latest methods and give away ideas in solving data modelling and analytics problems.
